[Psalm 145:8-9 KJV] “The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
These verses perfectly describe the nature and character of the Father. Mercy and compassion are actually synonymous terms meaning they describe the same virtuous character found in Father God.
Jesus was a gift; given by the Father to the world, and one of His
primary missions was to display the Father’s nature and character to
a confused world. Jesus was and still is the perfect God-man who
showed us what His Heavenly Father’s great mercy and compassion
were genuinely like.
[Mark 1:40-42 KJV] “And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.”
Notice that compassion moved Jesus and the power of God in Him to
heal the leper. Healing is a display of God’s compassion.
[Matthew 14:13-14 KJV] “When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.”
Jesus never Healed because He wanted to prove that He was the Son
of God. He healed because of His great mercy and moved with
compassion towards suffering humanity. Thank God our Father, His
Holy Son, Jesus still Heals today!

God never changes; He is the same now as when Jesus walked the
earth. Jesus is the living expression of our Heavenly Father. The church today is supposed to be the living representative and expression of our Father on earth today, but we get caught up in human expression and forget why we are born-again. To accomplish and spread the gospel that Jesus saves, heals and
delivers people from the bondage of sin.
[Matthew 20:29-34 NKJV] “Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. And behold, two blind men sitting by the road when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.”
Mercy in the heart moved God’s power through Jesus and healing
was the result. Let us be imitators of Jesus and do the same works.
