Wisdom Word for March 2025: “Lay Aside Every Weight”

gulfcoasthealingro

[Hebrews 12:1 KJV] “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

What is keeping you from living a life of complete obedience to Christ?

We all battle those pesky sins, habits, attitudes and fears, but we must lay those aside in order to finish our race with joy. I would think that you have prayed and prayed that Father God would deliver you from these aggravating hinderances but with no long-lasting success.

Temporary relief is not good enough, we must crucify these sinful behaviors.  One key principle in victory and overcoming is to liken or reckon yourself dead as Christ died on the Cross. He went willingly by making a quality choice and committing His entire person to the will of His Father.

Likewise, you and I must make the first step towards God’s will and God will draw near to us and help us die to these evil tendences in our lives. Consecration is the right response and principle to overcome ALL hinderances. We must involve our hearts and minds and determine to overcome the carnal man and put these things under the blood of Jesus forever.

The Apostle Paul says in Romans 6:11, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (meaning non-responsive to sin’s appeal). Pay it no attention, lay it aside never to be picked up again.

Romans 6:12 ~ Do not allow sin to rule your temple or mortal body. Christ has purchased your entire being with His death, burial, and resurrection. Live by His rule and reign victoriously with Him!

Romans 6:13 - Do not yield your members (your body) as tools or instruments of evil but yield your body as instruments for God and His righteousness.

Romans 6:14 – “For sin shall not have dominion over you”.

As you and I consecrate ourselves to be holy and blameless without sin, and we determine to say no to temptation then we will enjoy this Life in Christ. We will have no condemnation because we live after the Holy Spirit and not the old fleshly nature.
